Pastry Wrapped Fish at Rendez-vous (Samoa)

We spent too much time sampling food at too many different places on my last trip to Western Samoa. We stopped off at Rendez-vous for lunch after leaving BlueSky's offices, we were topping up our Internet there, and Rendez-vous is right there. Turn left out of the BlueSky parking lot and then turn left into Rendez-vous.

The dish in the photo above was ordered by my girlfriend, a fish dish wrapped and baked in a pastry cover. Presentation was beyond what I expected, but from the decor of the restaurant and ambiance I shouldn't have been surprised. Her pastry wrapped fish was very delicious, as was my seafood pasta, which I quickly demolished.

    Seafood on pizza? Get out of here! Tony's Gourmet Pizza over at KS Mart's Deli has done it again, adding a new seafood gourmet pizza just in time for Lent. Smoked marlin slices, cheese, fresh tomatoes, fresh parsley and topped with an ailioli sauce... Can it get any better? Dare we ask Tony to out-do himself? I hear rumors of an artichoke/crab pizza coming our way soon...

  • Wearing the Cape [Kindle Edition]

    You might wonder if I'll ever write a bad review about a book I've posted up on this web site, and you'll just have to keep on wondering.

    This book was a fun read. The characters were interesting and diverse and it was a good escape from our superhero-less world, where we have evil but no "good" to provide balance.

    The prose is pretty good. The plot wasn't too complicated. The characters were fairly well developed. The flow through the book was smooth. I'd recommend this book for anybody in the 12-30 year old range who just wants a quick, easy read.

    One of the best things about living in Samoa is the "fresh fish". For dinner last night I had smoked marlin sandwiches. Earlier this week I had fresh sashimi and today I'm craving maybe some Samoan "oka", or raw fish in seasoned coconut cream.

    Fish, however, are less than pleased with our penchant for dropping lines and hooks in the water with tantalizing bits of meat or lures, and we are rapidly approaching the two weeks of the year that fish probably dislike the most.
